Ideas Please!

So my little man needs some help, and I need some help to give it to him. Ethan was almost 6 weeks premature as a baby, and has struggled since starting on solid foods. He is picky and stubborn. Even as a little 6 month old baby he gave me a run for my money trying to get vegetables into him. Now he is days away from being 20 months old, and has started to lose what little weight he has. He has lost 1 1/2 pounds in the last month, and is now only 17 lbs. He has a horrible immune system, and if he come into contact with anything he gets it. I had an appointment with a pediatric dietitian today to help give me some guidance so that I can help him. I have already taken away all fruit snack, and most pre purchased snacks from all of the kids in my home because he is old enough to know the difference now, but that is not enough. I need to find ways to put beans into muffins, and carrots into his smoothies. Do any of you have healthy snacks that have a nutritional punch that I might be able to work into his diet. I love this little man, and can't take seeing him suffer.

you need to go buy the cook book "deceptively delicious" by jessica seinfeld. It gives you recipes and all of them have you putting some kind of fruit or veggie puree in it so they can't taste it but are still eating it

Another thing I did was get an ice cube tray and fill each compartment with something. Raising, apple pieces, cooked carrot chunks etc. and leave it out. You'd be surprised how they'll just pick at it through the day. Especially when they know they won't get anything else. I also played tough love. They don't get anything until they try ONE bite of a vegetable. Only one bite, because then they try it. I find getting them to try it is 90% of the battle. If you want any more ideas, you can write and let me know. Kaia was HORRID and she now is a phenomenal eater. I'm so sorry that he's been so hard for you. 2 of my kids were 20 pounds at 6 months, so I can't believe how little he is. That's SO hard, I'm sorry...

hey i put carrot puree in my spagethtti sauce(or pizza sauce), sweet potatoe puree in my pancakes, cauiflower puree in any white sauce. pretty much i put puree in ALL my foods, and a friend of mine would use carnation meal replacements into milkshakes, it gained her boy about 3 lbs in 1 month. she put in the vanilla carnation, strawberries, yogurt and told him it was a strawberry milkshake, and he wants them all the time now

ditto on what Cindy said. I LOVE the chickpea chocolate chip cookies & the butternut squash mac n' cheese.
my girls are super picky too, but they love Bolthouse Farms juices (in the produce section) the 100% carrot juice, and the green juice (we call it shrek juice, so i can't remember the name- maybe green goodness?) that has broccoli & artichoke & wheatgrass. or you could try beets in fruit smoothies?! that would be delish!

Might be worth a try?!

I was going to say the same as Cindy. Hope everything goes good with helping him gain. Katie was 18 lbs for the longest time so I know what it's like a little. She never lost though. Good luck.
